Donation and Grant Review Processes

The process for reviewing donation and grant applications to the Ed & Betty Manoyan Foundation (Foundation) can change.  The information contained in this website may or may not reflect current procedures.

Reviews of funding requests are made at various times throughout the calendar year.  When reviews are made is partly a function of the number of requests received, the dollar values of the requests, and the ability of the Foundation to provide immediate financial support.  One of the Goals of the Foundation is to maintain some degree of flexibility to support those causes it deems most worthy and consistent with advancing its Mission.  Therefore, it may adjust its review process to help ensure that it maximizes the value of the funds it has available.

The Foundation may or may not provide support to all qualified organizations making requests for donations and grants.   Although the process may change depending on conditions at the time, shown below is the process commonly used for donations and grants:

Donation requests:

  • Each request is given a preliminary review upon receipt to assess whether it is from an organization qualified to receive a donation.
  • Requests that are preliminarily deemed to come from qualified organizations are held in a pending file until a more formal review can be made of all of the requests received up to that time.
  • Formal reviews typically are made on a quarterly basis, but this may vary depending on the volume of donation requests received, the total dollar value of the requests, and the funding capabilities of the Foundation.
  • Actual funding to those organizations that will receive a donation may come at the end of the formal review process or be deferred until a later time depending on the financial capabilities of the Foundation.

Grant requests:

  • Each request is given a preliminary review upon receipt to assess whether it is from an organization qualified to receive grants.
  • A request that is preliminarily deemed to come from a qualified organization is then reviewed to assess whether it contains sufficient information desired by the Foundation.  The Foundation, in its sole discretion, may elect to notify the organization of the need for additional information or deem it to be deficient and thereby not qualified for further consideration.
  • Requests that are preliminarily deemed to come from qualified organizations and be sufficiently complete are held in a pending file until a more formal review can be made of all of the requests received up to that time.
  • Formal reviews typically are made on a quarterly basis, but can vary depending on the volume of grant requests received, the total dollar value of the requests, and the funding capabilities of the Foundation.
  • Actual funding to those organizations that will receive a grant may come at the end of the formal review process or be deferred until a later time depending on the financial capabilities of the Foundation.

The Foundation in its sole discretion also may make donations and grants to organizations on an unsolicited basis as part of its overall annual giving process and to further the Mission of the Foundation.
